Pictures of things I see and do. Most of them will be when I’m at home in Guernsey. I like the sea and exploring World War 2 bunkers. So you could say I live in the ideal place.

Ironically I tend to mainly visit places that are also by the sea, or at least near a river too………………

"Fort Saumarez: MP2 is the darkly brooding first single from Flexagon's forthcoming Towers album. It continues the Guernsey-based electronic musician's exploration of music and soundscapes with a strong sense of place.
Fort Saumarez is a granite Martello Tower topped by a four-storey concrete WWII German observation point. Steeped in history, it looms ominously over the northern tip of L'Erée headland and, like the other island locations on the album, is off limits to the public. Flexagon uses atmospheric site recordings in this hypnotic track to lead the listener up from the shingle beach, through long-abandoned German trenches, to the shadow of the tower itself."

Head out to near the location it's based on, Fort Saumarez above L'Eree headland.

You'll need the Echoes app on your phone first and either follow the instructions there on exactly where you can hear it, or look at the map on the app and stay within the blue area and it will play.

Bridget Spinney's 'Art of nature' on paper exhibit

Bridget Spinney's 'Art of nature' on paper exhibition is still on in Guernsey Arts' Greenhouse Gallery at Guernsey Museum. And somewhat unbelievably my sound installation is still working!

Exhibition is open until 14th May.

'Capturing moments of transience, magnificence and wonder in nature, threaded with the insidious scourge of plastic.'

'Ghost Net is a collaborative work between Bridget Spinney, Monika Drabot and Flexagon. Based around a large abandoned trawler net that was pulled out of the sea by Guernsey fisherman.'

"People moving through the gallery trigger an ever-changing soundscape. Flexagon uses sound bites from popular culture along with abstract musical motifs made with rubbish cleared from Guernsey's coastline by the Clean Earth Trust. This includes spent shotgun cartridges, water bottles, chemical containers, bicycle wheels and mooring buoys.

Triggered using motion sensors placed around the gallery, the resulting combination of sounds and music is never the same"

The video here of the Ghost Net itself has an extract of sound from the gallery. But it's constantly changing, I know what its doing behind the scenes, but I never know what it's going to sound like.

The reaction to my sound installation has been great, so I'm going to record and release extracts from what I have running in the Greenhouse gallery. Might see if I can get a version of it running on my website too.

The exhibition is open!

Huge thanks to @bridgetspinney for asking me to add sound and music to her fantastic exhibition. It's great being back in the Greenhouse Gallery making noise for a second time. This is my first go at making interactive and generative music, I leave it to visitors to decide if the project is a success or not.

Also a privilege to work alongside @monikadrabot again, both as curator of the exhibition and collaborator on the Ghost Net installation.

Thanks to @guernseyarts and everyone else that helped in various ways in getting this up and running That includes Regency Events and staff for use of their warehouse for a test hang of the Ghost Net itself.

Exhibition open daily at Guernsey Museum, Candie Gardens - for the next two months. Come and explore the space and trigger some ambient sounds with your body!
